Licensed kitchen

What the badge actually means

Every kitchen on ShobShob goes through a document review before it can appear in search or take a single order. The badge isn't a rating and it can't be bought — it means we've seen the paperwork below, on file, for that specific kitchen.

City of Calgary business licence

A valid City of Calgary licence for a home-based food business, with the licence number recorded.

Home Occupation permit

The City's planning approval to operate this business from the seller's home.

Alberta Health Services approval

AHS's approval for home-prepared food, with the file number recorded.

Food-handling permit (higher-risk food)

Kitchens selling savoury or perishable food must additionally show a food-handling permit before approval.

Address privacy, both ways

Exact addresses are never public. Customers see an approximate area only; the exact pickup address is shared once the cook accepts an order.

What verification doesn't cover

Home kitchens are licensed but not commercially inspected the way a restaurant is, and ShobShob doesn't prepare or inspect the food. Ingredient and allergen information is provided by each seller, and cross-contact with allergens is possible in any home kitchen. If you have a severe allergy, use the item's allergen details and contact the seller before ordering.

If something goes wrong

Your card is only charged when a cook accepts your order, every order has a self-serve cancellation window, and our team reviews every reported problem — including refunds where warranted. Kitchens that break the rules are suspended.
